Fourth Grade Writing Samples - Do They Qualify As Writing Sample?Fourth grade writing samples are usually boring. Why is that? Well, you see, many of the writers in those samples were actually fifth graders who wrote for fun and not really to improve their writing.These fourth grade writing samples are usually filled with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and poor, choppy sentences. The writing seems unprofessional and lazy.Fourth grade writing samples do not prepare you for your professional writing. They simply feed your writing animal and cause a writing overload. They are actually teaching you how to be lazy.Fourth grade writing samples are usually filled with words such as 'I'we.' When using these words in the beginning of your essay, they tell the reader you are an expert. You know it is OK to use the me and we pronouns, so now you write your whole essay that way.If you are using the college level language, you are really just saying that you know what you are talking abou t, and that you are an expert. So, you then continue to use these words throughout your essay until it becomes your trademark.Fourth grade writing samples also tend to read like a daily newspaper. The language is too old fashioned and has only recently come out of the typewriter. It is more about shock value than substance.The tone of the author is not engaging and there is no personality to the entire essay. Just to give you a little background, the style of writing samples in the fourth grade writing samples was most likely dictated by an assistant or by a professor who believed it would improve his students' grades.Fourth grade writing samples are not just boring. They are a complete waste of time, and a total waste of your money!
